Interesting research being done at ETH Zurich
The Austrian research team has recently begun cooperating with the Institute for Biomechanics (IfB) at the renowned Swiss science and technology university ETH Zurich to develop a new generation of anti-skid socks for children.
Initial investigations have already been conducted. Self-adhesive reflective dots were stuck to children?s feet, then off they went: The children were asked to walk up and down a test track ? first barefoot, then in socks, then in different types of shoes. Infrared cameras recorded the position of the reflective dots in the various phases of movement. In this way, researchers hope to find out more about how kids? feet move and what effects shoes have on the range of motion.
